The short answer
A house is still working for you when its size, layout, upkeep, location and costs match how you live now. When several of those stop fitting, it may be worth looking at your options. That could mean a smaller house, a larger one, a different layout or a different location. Sometimes it means fixing one thing and staying.
Why ask the question at all?
Most people don’t decide to move all at once. It starts with small things. A room that hasn’t been used in months. Stairs that feel different than they used to. A Saturday that disappears into yard work. A drive that got longer when life moved on.
None of that means you need to move. Sometimes the right answer is to stay, fix one thing, and enjoy the house. The point is to notice what’s working and what isn’t, so any decision you make is a deliberate one.
How the result works
Each answer counts toward a simple fit score. Answers that point to a mismatch, like more space than you use, upkeep you don’t enjoy, or a location that no longer fits, add to it, and each issue counts only once. The quiz asks about how much of your home you use, whether the size fits, stairs and layout, yard and exterior upkeep, bigger projects ahead, location, monthly costs, and how long you plan to stay. The result shows your overall fit, lists the specific things pulling on you, and suggests a first step. Sometimes that step is a fix that lets you stay. There’s no dollar figure and no right or wrong answer. It’s a starting point for your own thinking.

Does a “may not fit” result mean I should sell?
No. It means a few things about your home don’t match how you live right now. Some of them can be solved without moving. Others are worth a closer look. That’s a conversation, not a verdict.
Is this only about downsizing?
No. Some people need less space, some need more, and some just need a different layout or a different location. The quiz looks at fit, not size.
Are my answers saved or sent anywhere?
No. The quiz uses your answers to show your result. It doesn’t save or send them. Like most websites, this site may use standard analytics to count visits.
